Our Story
BPLS started in 2011 as a one man operation, and has since been blessed to grow into a thriving business serving Western NC. BPLS is honored to have a loyal client base that continues to grow. Since its inception BPLS has been determined to offer exceptional customer service and quality in which professionals and families can depend.
Ben started BPLS in 2011, after earning his B.S. Surveying and Mapping at East Tennessee State University. Ben is licensed in NC, SC and Tennessee. Ben has been honored with awards such as The Tom Johnson Entrepreneurial Award (2017 & 2018) and voted "Best Surveyor" in McDowell County from 2016 to present by the McDowell News. Ben oversees each project from start to finish and ensures that each job is done right.

Joel is a PLS who has been with BPLS since the Fall of 2015. He holds a B.S. in Geomatics from NCA&T State University.
Austin Brooks
Project Manager

Austin has been with BPLS since January of 2017. Austin formally served with the Marion Police Department for several years and is a recipient of "Officer of the Year" Award. Austin is a skilled wood worker and the co-owner of Mountain Stream Campground. He is responsible for all our residential estimates, projects and scheduling and is a principal part of the company.
Eric Parham
Crew Chief
Eric came to BPLS from the Forrest Service in the spring of 2021. He is a graduate of Haywood Community College where he holds an associates degree in Forestry. Eric manages the majority of Field Operations and data management. Eric enjoys fishing and mechanical work in off time and a great addition to the company.
Casey Fender
Field Tech
Casey joined BPLS in the summer of 2022. He holds a Bachelors in Christian Ministry from N. Greenville University. and works as an Assistant Pastor of a local church. When he's not handling the survey field operations, Casey enjoys homesteading and spending time with his family.
Joshua Oakes
Crew Chief (Part Time)
Josh is a Second Lt. USMC and has been working with BPLS since 2016. He holds a B.A. in Global Studies from the University of North Carolina, with a minor in Middle Eastern Studies. Josh is currently deployed, but still active with BPLS while on leave. Josh is fondly known as the philosopher and entertainer of the group and has played a significant role in success of the company.
