Our Story

BPLS started in 2011 as a one man operation, and has since been blessed to grow into a thriving business serving Western NC. BPLS is honored to have a loyal client base that is growing year by year. Since its inception BPLS has been determined to offer exceptional customer service and accuracy in which businesses and families can depend.  

Ben Patton

Ben started BPLS in 2011, after earning his B.S. Surveying and Mapping at East Tennessee State University. Ben is licensed in NC, SC and Tennessee. Ben has been honored with awards such as The Tom Johnson Entrepreneurial Award and was also voted "Best Surveyor" in McDowell County in 2016 and 2017 by the McDowell News. Ben oversees each project from start to finish and ensures that each job is done right. 

Joel Mancuso

Joel has been with BPLS since the Fall of 2015 and has a B.A. in Pastoral Theology. He is currently working towards a B.S. in Geomatics at NC A&T University en route to becoming a Licensed Surveyor.  

Caleb Oakes
Field Manager

Caleb joined BPLS in the summer of 2016, after running the Appalachian Trial in just a few months. Caleb manages all aspects of our field operations and is proficient in both field survey systems as well as AutoCAD. He is a skilled leader and big part of BPLS's success. 

Curtis Wright
Crew Chief

Curtis joined BPLS in December 2018 and brought over 12 years of survey experience with him. Curtis has a tremendous work ethic and has been a great addition to the team. 

Austin Brooks
Field Tech

Austin has been with BPLS since January of 2017. Austin is a reserve Police Officer and former "Officer of the Year". Austin enjoys, wood working and strives for excellence in everything he does. 

Nathan Greene
Field Tech

Nathan is a USMC veteran and former police officer, who joined BPLS in January 2019. He is avid duck hunter and church volunteer. His dedication and experience has made him a welcomed addition to the crew.   

Sam Oakes
Field Tech

Sam has been working with BPLS since early 2017; and is talented in the field of construction. He is currently studying Building Construction Technology at Isothermal Community College.

Joshua Oakes
Field Tech

Josh serves as U.S. Marine Reservist and has been working with BPLS since 2016. He is fondly known as the entertainer of the crew and is currently studying at the University of North Carolina.
